Heritage Hunters is running a Photo contest for the month of May.
Heritage Hunters values the documentation of all types of Hunting Traditions  so this month we'd like to ask for photo submissions that best represent some aspect of your hunting heritage.  The photo can be of you with your trophy, a 1st harvest, you and your hunting buddies or just a cool photo you snapped while in the outdoors.  That's right, there does NOT have to be an animal in the photo.  All types of legal game are acceptable as well as silhouettes and action shots.  So let's see what you come up with!
Here are the rules:
1. You must be a registered member of our forum to submit a photo in the contest
2. Your photo must represent some aspect of YOUR hunting heritage.  In other words, don't go surfing the net to find the coolest hunting picture that someone else took.
3. Your Photo must NOT contain any obscene gestures or alcoholic beverages.
4. Any animals pictured must have been taken by legal means within a season designated by your particular State.
5. No photoshopped photos please
6. Members can post more than one photo entry.....within reason of course Wink
7. Photos must be submitted by Noon on May 31st.

There are 2 methods of submitting a photo:
1. Post the photo in this thread
2. Send an email with the photo attached to info@theheritagehunters.com
(Title the email: "May Contest" and make sure you include your name and username in the email)

By submitting a photo in the contest you are giving Heritage Hunters permission to use the photo on www.theheritagehunters.com and for promotion purposes.

The Prize???
A customized digitally printed photo plaque by www.myhuntingphoto.com valued at over $85 Photo plaques are 14" x 23" x 3/4" and provide a great look for your camp, home or rec. room. What better way to preserve your hunting heritage than with this stunning plaque.  You get your winning photo immortalized on one of these plaques!

Special thanks to Mike at www.myhuntingphoto.com for sponsoring this month's contest.

Selection of Winning Photo:
Here's how the winner will be selected.  After the deadline to submit photos has passed, Dan and I will select 5 of the photos that we feel represent a hunting heritage, are cool and that we like the best (hey, it's our contest right?) We will then post the 5 selections in a post with a
poll for you all to vote on.
The voting post will run for 1 week and the photo with the most votes wins the prize.  Winning photo will be submitted to Mike at www.myhuntingphoto.com and he will make the magic happen.
Plaque will be shipped directly to your address.

Let's see those photos!!!! Grin

Ok here is one of several I would like to submit.  Wow! how do you capture your hunting heritage? For me this photo about covers it.  This group of 10 guys for the most part have been hunting together for years.  I am the goofy one second from the right with my Pop to my right.  There are friends in this photo that went to 1st grade together, older men who treat me like their son, and an old college days pal.  What this photo truly captures is the real reason we hunt.  Its not the kill, or the chase but the friendship and good times.  We have since lost the farm and it's hard to get the whole group together at one time as we did every weekend for years.  This has only confirmed what it is that we loved so much, the hanging out with great friends and enjoying the outdoors together.  I hope you can tell from the photo this was a group of guys that hunted for each other.  Everyone wanted the other guy to get the shot and would go out of their way to make sure everyone had a good time.   Kinda like the deer in the photo. Each was taken by the man holding them but the whole group shared in the joy.

How is the best way to post photos to keep them under the max size?  The one above came out smaller than I had hoped.  Plus the quality appears to have been reduced?

How's this?

If you have your photos with an online hosting site like photobucket.com or hunt101.com (both free sites for your to upload your photos to) there is a code (to the right for forums or sometimes underneath the photo).  The code looks something like this:
     http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn96/jfishn/huntclub03120.jpg

Highlight and copy that code.  Then when you make a post, above the area where you type in the message for the post, you'll see all these little icon boxes for things like "bold, italics, quotes" etc.  Click the one that looks like a little picture (second box from left).  Paste the code inbetween the two [img] boxes and when you save the post, the image appears.

Out of many photos my father has from years ago for me this one ranks in the top ten or so.  The photo was taken in October 1965 during the NJ fall bow season I wasnt even born yet.  Both deer were shot in Colts Neck NJ, my dad shot the buck.  This photo show lots, recurve bow, hand held, hand released, no site, hand made camo socks for the limbs, cedar shaft arrows, Fred bear Broadheads, and home made camo shirt from mom.

My dad started hunting in the lats 50's early 60's.  My grandfather didnt hunt so I dont know how dad picked it up but thats what got me into the game.

My first.

My oldest at 20 months old helping me drag out a BIG pine buck.

Child #2 Jesse James with his first bow kill.

And Child #3 at 2 helping me out with a good week of hunting.

and this is how im passing the HERITAGE.
.

Thanks I hope you all enjoy them I hope I didnt over do it.

my father is a PETA member so i don't really have a heritage pic like the ones above however this pic is special to me because this is the day my twin sister and i came "full circle" sort to speak...i introduced her to huntin' about 11yrs ago....a couple seasons ago i couldn't bag a turkey for the life of me so she took me to one of her secret spots and guided me to this awesome public land bird on the last weekend of the season...on the walk out we both realized that our hunting relationship had "come full circle"....it started out that i was guiding and teaching her but at that moment i was in her shoes...it was an awesome day!!!
